What this Trial Is About
The rapid spread of COVID-19 has created global challenges in diagnosing infection and understanding immunity. This study focuses on healthcare workers, who face high exposure risk and psychosocial stress during the pandemic. Researchers aim to measure how common COVID-19 infection and antibodies are among these workers and to explore their mental and emotional well-being and coping strategies. The study also examines how knowing their antibody status might impact their psychological health during the crisis. Participants will be grouped based on their COVID-19 testing and symptom history, including those previously positive and recovered, those with symptoms but never tested, those currently symptomatic, and those asymptomatic and never tested. The study uses blood tests to measure antibodies to the virus and surveys to assess mental health and coping. These measures will help improve testing strategies and support for healthcare workers. During the study, participants complete blood draws for antibody testing and answer surveys about their mental and emotional state and coping methods. Researchers will track the proportion of participants with antibodies up to 12 months after their sample collection. This observational study involves regular assessments to understand both physical and emotional impacts of COVID-19 on healthcare workers over time.
