What this Trial Is About
Researchers are creating a registry called the CARE-Heme Registry to study older adults aged 50 years and above who have hematologic malignancies such as Multiple Myeloma, Amyloidosis, and Plasma Cell Leukemia. The goal is to understand how common frailty and other age-related impairments are in this group and to collect information that can support future research for these vulnerable patients. Participants will complete a patient-reported geriatric assessment questionnaire and undergo physical function tests, including the Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB) and hand grip strength measurement. These assessments will be done at enrollment and repeated at 3 months, 6 months, and one year to track changes over time. Additionally, a one-time blood or saliva sample will be taken. During the study, participants will be evaluated through questionnaires and objective physical tests administered by trained staff. Researchers will monitor patient-reported outcomes and physical function changes over five years. The main outcome is to develop the CARE-Heme Registry, with ongoing assessments to capture the health status of older adults with hematologic cancers.
