What this Trial Is About
This observational study aims to identify digital and plasma biomarkers that could help detect, predict, and understand delirium in older adults admitted to the intensive care unit ICU. The main focus is to see if digital biometric data and changes in neurodegeneration biomarkers in plasma can predict delirium during ICU stays. Participants are older adults admitted to the ICU with an expected stay of at least 48 hours. They will wear a digital device that collects biometric data and will have plasma samples collected several times during their ICU admission. The study staff will assess participants daily for delirium up to 10 days or until ICU discharge. During the study, participants will be monitored for delirium occurrence, sleep duration and fragmentation, and daily circadian activity rhythm disruption. The study involves collecting biometric data, plasma samples, and daily assessments over the ICU stay. The total participation lasts up to 10 days or until discharge from the ICU.
