What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating a digitally-based obesity prevention program aimed at mothers of infants participating in a home visitation program. The study focuses on how this digital intervention affects childrens weight, mothers feeding practices, child sleep, and screen time compared to the standard home visiting curriculum. The study targets the critical first 1,000 days of life to help reduce obesity risk in early childhood and beyond. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups one receiving the digitally delivered obesity prevention program called THRIVES alongside the standard home visiting curriculum, and the other receiving only the standard home visiting curriculum. The digital program includes videos, text, and interactive goal-setting modules delivered over the infants first year. Both groups will be followed for 12 months with assessments at baseline, 4, 6, and 12 months. During the study, mothers will complete questionnaires about feeding, activity, and family topics, while their infants will have weight and length measured at each assessment point. Several outcome measures will be tracked including child weight-for-length, maternal feeding behaviors, child sleep, screen time, dietary habits, and parental stress levels. The study aims to assess the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary effects of the intervention over the one-year period.
