What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating the effects of drinking hibiscus tea on blood pressure, body composition, and near vision problems in college students aged 15 to 22 years. This study aims to explore whether hibiscus tea, rich in anthocyanins, can help control or reduce these health issues compared to drinking boiled water. The research involves 100 subjects divided into two groups to assess the impact on myopia, visual fatigue, blood pressure, body composition, and body fat. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a hibiscus tea group or a boiled water group, with each group drinking their assigned beverage for 10 weeks. Measurements of visual fatigue, blood pressure, and body composition will be taken at the start of the trial (week zero), the second week, the sixth week, and the tenth week after stopping drinking. Visual acuity will be examined at the start and tenth week after stopping drinking. Throughout the study, participants will undergo various assessments including visual fatigue scales, blood pressure monitoring, and detailed body composition analysis covering weight, muscle mass and quality, physique ratings, visceral fat, basal metabolic rate, total body water percentage, bone mass, BMI, metabolic age, and body fat percentage. These measurements will help researchers understand the potential effects of hibiscus tea on vision and body health. The study will conclude after 10 weeks of treatment and follow-up assessments.
