What this Trial Is About
This trial investigates how cognitive-motor dual-task training CMDT affects postural stability and functional mobility in people who have had a stroke. Stroke survivors often face lasting physical and cognitive challenges, and traditional rehabilitation usually focuses on either motor or cognitive skills separately. CMDT combines cognitive tasks like problem-solving with motor activities such as walking or balance exercises to better reflect everyday demands that require multitasking. The training aims to improve brain functions related to attention and executive control, potentially enhancing recovery by promoting brain plasticity and functional improvements. Participants are divided into two groups. One group undergoes CMDT three times a week for 45-60 minutes over six weeks, progressing through static and dynamic tasks in the first two weeks, anticipatory tasks in weeks three and four, and reactive tasks in weeks five and six. Cognitive challenges include verbal fluency, Stroop tests, and auditory reactions, combined with physical activities like walking and balancing. The other group performs conventional balance training without cognitive tasks but follows the same schedule and progression of physical exercises. During the study, participants will be assessed on their balance and mobility using measures such as the Berg Balance Scale, Timed-Up and Go Test, Postural Assessment Scale, and Dual Task Cost after six weeks. Researchers will monitor improvements in postural control and functional mobility. The study lasts from May to November 2026, and participants are expected to attend regular training sessions and assessments throughout the six-week intervention period.
