What this Trial Is About

The trial investigates how laughter yoga and pilates affect pregnancy adjustment, anxiety, and prenatal attachment in pregnant women who have received childbirth preparation training. It focuses on pregnant women beyond 20 weeks without multiple or risky pregnancies, exploring ways to support their emotional and physical well-being during this important life phase. The study is sponsored by Istanbul University - Cerrahpasa and aims to better understand complementary methods to manage stress and promote positive pregnancy experiences. Participants are randomly assigned to one of three groups: laughter yoga, pilates, or education only. The laughter yoga group practices sessions twice a week for four weeks, each lasting 45 minutes, combining laughter exercises and yoga breathing techniques in groups up to 15 people. The pilates group also meets twice weekly for four weeks, with sessions focusing on pregnancy-safe pilates exercises lasting 45 minutes and groups up to 10 people. The education group attends routine pregnancy school trainings covering topics like postpartum care and breastfeeding. Each group completes a pre-test in the first week and a final test after four weeks. During the study, pregnant women participate in assessments measuring pregnancy-related anxiety, pregnancy adjustment, and prenatal attachment using standardized scales at the four-week mark. Routine pregnancy school training is provided by midwife trainers for all groups. The researchers monitor participants' progress through these tests to evaluate the impact of laughter yoga and pilates on their psychological and emotional adaptation to pregnancy. The total study duration for participants is four weeks, with outcomes assessed at the end of this period.
