What this Trial Is About
This research aims to study nurses who care for people facing difficult situations such as illness, loss, or being in the final stages of life, focusing on their experiences with death anxiety and death awareness. Nurses may be affected by these situations differently based on factors like their work unit, workload, and personal characteristics. The study recognizes that while death education can help, individual differences in coping with grief are important, and specialized training may better support nurses in managing death-related stress. The study involves a 6-week program consisting of 12 mindfulness-based group psychoeducation sessions designed to increase nurses awareness of death and reduce their anxiety about it. The program covers topics such as the death process and anxiety, the impact on individuals and families, coping methods, effects on nurses providing care, awareness of death, and emotional skills needed during the death process. Nurses will be assigned randomly to an experimental group receiving this education or a control group. Participants will be nurses working in palliative care, emergency, or intensive care units. Data will be collected using questionnaires before and after the program, including scales measuring death awareness and death anxiety. Statistical tests will assess changes in scores, helping to understand if the psychoeducation reduces death anxiety and increases awareness. The study plans to include 36 nurses total and will monitor outcomes four weeks after the program.
