Anxiety before surgery is common and can affect recovery, especially with outpatient procedures like carpal tunnel surgery that involve quick care and same-day discharge. This trial investigates whether medical hypnosis delivered through virtual reality can reduce preoperative anxiety in patients undergoing this type of surgery. The goal is to evaluate how this new technology might help patients relax and manage their fears better before their operation. Participants are randomly assigned to one of two groups: one group will engage in a recreational leisure activity for 20 minutes before surgery to help reduce anxiety, while the other group will receive a 20-minute medical hypnosis session using a virtual reality headset. This single-center, prospective study compares the effects of these two approaches on anxiety levels before surgery. During the study, anxiety levels are measured 15 minutes before and 15 minutes after the assigned activity or hypnosis session. The study involves monitoring patients' responses to these interventions shortly before their outpatient carpal tunnel surgery. The total participation time includes these preoperative sessions and anxiety assessments. Safety and tolerability are considered, with minimal risks and constraints noted in the study design.
