Reducing Anxiety and Fear Before Appendicitis Surgery in Children Aged 7-12 Using Cartoons or Mobile Games A Randomized Controlled Trial

This research aims to evaluate how watching cartoons and playing mobile games affect preoperative anxiety and fear in children aged 7 to 12 years who are hospitalized for appendicitis surgery. The study is a randomized controlled trial with three groups one watching cartoons, one playing mobile games, and a control group receiving routine care. It focuses on providing simple, non-drug methods to reduce anxiety and fear before surgery in pediatric patients. Children in the two intervention groups will either watch a child-friendly cartoon explaining surgery or play age-appropriate mobile games for 10 minutes before their operation. The control group will receive standard hospital care without additional digital distraction. Anxiety and fear levels will be measured before and immediately after these interventions using validated scales. Participants will be assessed for anxiety, fear, heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation before and after the intervention. The study will monitor these measures immediately before surgery to understand the effects of the distraction techniques. The trial is designed to contribute evidence towards atraumatic care that improves childrens surgical experiences and outcomes.
