The Effects of Colostomy Care Training Based on Jeffries' Simulation Theory on Nursing Students: A Randomised Controlled Study

Researchers are studying the effects of colostomy care training based on Jeffries' Simulation Theory on nursing students. This study aims to evaluate how this training impacts students' knowledge, skills, stress, self-efficacy, readiness, state anxiety, satisfaction, and self-confidence. The study compares students who receive different types of colostomy care training to understand which method better supports learning and confidence. Participants are divided into two groups. The intervention group receives individual training in a simulation laboratory using mannequins and standardized simulated patients to practice colostomy care skills. The control group practices colostomy bag change and care using a low-fidelity patient model. All students receive training based on a Colostomy Care Training Booklet prepared by the researchers. During the study, nursing students' knowledge, skills, stress, self-efficacy, readiness, anxiety, satisfaction, and confidence are assessed within one week after the simulation exercises. These outcomes are measured to evaluate the effectiveness of the training. The study uses a randomized, double-blind design to compare results between the intervention and control groups, ensuring careful monitoring of student progress.
