What this Trial Is About

Researchers are studying the effects of two physical therapy techniques, Facilitated Positional Release Technique (FPRT) and Manual Myofascial Release Technique (MFRT), in female patients diagnosed with Piriformis Syndrome. The study aims to compare these two approaches in relieving pain and improving hip movement and lower extremity function in women aged 25 to 50 years who have had pain for at least two months. Participants are divided randomly into two groups. One group receives the FPRT, which includes a 30-minute session starting with a 10-minute hot pack, followed by targeted pressure on the piriformis muscle and specific stretching exercises. The other group receives the MFRT, also with a 30-minute session beginning with a hot pack, followed by manual pressure and kneading motions on the piriformis muscle, and stretching exercises. Both treatments are repeated over a two-week period. Before treatment, baseline measurements of hip range of motion, pain level (using a numeric pain rating scale), and lower extremity function (using the Lower Extremity Functional Scale) are recorded. These assessments are repeated after every two treatment sessions across the two weeks to track changes. The study involves single blinding and monitors pain, function, and movement to evaluate the treatments' effects.
