What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating the effects of two different methods of removing deep dental caries in mature permanent teeth to understand their impact on pulp health and postoperative pain. The study focuses on comparing total caries removal versus selective caries removal and how each technique influences pulp vitality and pain after treatment. Participants will receive either total caries removal, which is a complete excavation to hard dentin, or selective caries removal where some affected dentin near the pulp is intentionally left. This split-mouth clinical study means that each participant may receive both treatments in different teeth. The study is randomized and double-blinded to fairly compare these two procedures. Participants will undergo follow-up visits at 6 and 12 months to assess outcomes such as early postoperative pain intensity during the first week, dentin bridge formation, and pulp survival at twelve months. Researchers will monitor pulp vitality using cold sensitivity tests and evaluate pain levels using a visual analog scale. The total study duration includes these follow-up periods to ensure comprehensive evaluation of treatment effects.
