What this Trial Is About
Researchers are studying the use of a walking platform to improve recovery of walking speed after major cancer surgery in patients aged 65 and older. This Phase 2 study focuses on elderly patients hospitalized for oncological surgery and aims to see if daily walking sessions can help them regain their preoperative walking ability by the time they leave the hospital. Participants will receive early rehabilitation through adapted physical activity using a walking platform. Starting the day after surgery, they will be asked to take 1 to 2 walking sessions daily on the platform, each lasting between 6 to 30 minutes, until hospital discharge. This intervention is designed to support recovery after surgery. During the study, participants' walking speed recovery will be evaluated at hospital discharge, approximately 15 to 30 days post-surgery. Researchers will monitor how well patients regain their walking ability compared to before surgery. The study involves regular walking sessions and assessments to measure progress and safety throughout the hospital stay.
