What this Trial Is About

Falls are a common issue for people over 65 years old, especially those with tumor diseases like multiple myeloma. These falls can lead to lower quality of life, reduced physical ability, and loss of independence, yet detailed scientific study on falls in cancer patients is limited. This research aims to identify fall risk factors in multiple myeloma patients and develop a structured exercise program to reduce fall risks and related injuries. Participants will receive a personalized home-based training plan that includes strength and balance exercises to be done three times a week for six months. Additionally, treadmill-based perturbation training will be provided at two specific times during the study. This intervention is designed to help prevent falls by improving physical stability. During the study, participants will be monitored for their ability to complete at least 48 of 72 training sessions focused on fall prevention over 24 weeks. Researchers will assess the fear of falling at the start and end of the six-month study. Participants will attend follow-up visits and complete questionnaires in German to evaluate the effectiveness and feasibility of the exercise program.
