HDClarity will seek at least 2500 research participants at different stages of Huntington's disease (HD). The primary objective is to collect a high quality CSF sample for evaluation of biomarkers and pathways that will enable the development of novel treatments for HD. Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age 18-75 years for controls, early/late premanifest HD, and incomplete penetrance HD
- Age 21-75 years for early, moderate, or advanced manifest HD
- Age 11 years or older for juvenile HD
- Enrolled as an HD participant
- Able to consent or have a legal representative (parent/guardian for juveniles)
- Able to follow study procedures
- All participants except family and community controls must have had genetic testing for HD
You will not qualify if you...
- Participation in a drug trial within 30 days of any sampling visit
- Medication changes (antidepressant, psychoactive, psychotropic, or nutraceuticals for HD) within 30 days
- Use of antiplatelet or anticoagulant therapy within 14 days
- Significant other illnesses
- Needle phobia, headache, spinal surgery, or spinal deformity
- Clotting or bruising disorders
- Blood test abnormalities greater than 10% outside normal range
- Drug or alcohol abuse
- Positive pregnancy test at any visit for females who can become pregnant
- Expected non-compliance or unwillingness to participate
- Serious adverse event related to HDClarity or lumbar puncture procedures within the last 30 days
