Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Adults aged 18 to 80 years
- Generally good health for healthy subjects
- Generally good health with specific unilateral or bilateral vestibular loss for vestibular disease patients
You will not qualify if you...
- Institutionalized or not self-sufficient individuals (healthy subjects)
- Lasting effects from diseases of the nervous system, eyes, ears, head and neck, or limbs beyond normal aging changes (healthy subjects)
- Abnormal cognitive function (Mini-Mental State test score below 27)
- Corrected visual acuity worse than 20/20 up to age 65, or worse than 20/40 if over 65
- Abnormal binocular stereo-acuity or visual fields
- Any defects in cranial nerve, eye movement, coordination, or sensory functions
- Any abnormal eye movement or vestibular function (caloric tests)
- Inability to perform study tasks due to sensory, motor, or postural limitations (vestibular disease patients)
