What this Trial Is About

This research aims to understand how the COVID-19 outbreak affected cardiac patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Pitie-Salpetriere Hospital in Paris, France. It compares patients who tested positive for COVID-19 with those who did not have the infection, focusing on those with acute coronary syndrome and heart failure. The study is observational, tracking patient outcomes during and after their ICU stay. The study involves collecting diagnostic and prognostic data from cardiac patients admitted to the ICU during the COVID-19 outbreak. Patients are grouped based on their COVID-19 status, confirmed by RT-PCR and CT scans. Researchers assess immune status by checking for SARS-CoV-2 specific antibodies. No treatment is assigned as this is an observational registry. Participants will be followed from admission through one year afterward to monitor the incidence of major cardiovascular events and urgent rehospitalizations. Data on clinical characteristics and outcomes will be collected during their ICU stay and follow-up. The study ensures patient consent and tracks health events to better understand COVID-19's impact on cardiac care.
