What this Trial Is About
Researchers are collecting data on blood circulation using a new multi-frequency impedance plethysmography IPG device developed in the ThrombUS project. This non-invasive method measures blood volume changes through skin electrodes. The study involves both healthy volunteers and patients undergoing catheter-directed thrombolysis CDT for deep vein thrombosis DVT. The goal is to improve device technology, diagnostic data analysis, and train artificial intelligence models. Participants are divided into two groups 20 healthy volunteers and 20 DVT patients receiving CDT treatment. The study collects IPG data using the ThrombUS prototype device and compares it with a commercial IPG device. Participants will undergo various interventions like venous occlusion by a thigh cuff, breathing exercises including the Valsalva maneuver, and leg muscle movements to observe changes in venous blood volume. These methods aim to enhance DVT detection and determine optimal measurement frequencies. During the study, IPG data will be gathered from patients throughout their CDT treatment, lasting up to two days, and from healthy volunteers during measurement sessions of up to two hours. Researchers will assess the data against standard references like angiography and ultrasound imaging. The study also explores methods to simulate DVT for improved detection. Participant involvement includes performing breathing and leg movement exercises while wearing measurement devices, with all data used for device and algorithm development.
