Researchers are studying how exposure to a mixture of chemical pollutants found in breast milk and the environment affects sleep in infants under six months old. This research focuses on the early months of life, a critical time for brain development, and aims to understand the impact of these persistent substances on infant sleep patterns. The study is led by the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire, Amiens, and investigates a total of 19 mainly persistent pollutants that may contribute to neurodevelopmental risk. Participants will wear an actimetry watch continuously for 7 days to record sleep patterns, alongside keeping a sleep diary. The study also measures environmental exposure by analyzing pollutants in breast milk and on a silicone bracelet worn by the infant to collect indoor air pollutants. Additionally, the child's temperature will be recorded continuously over the same 7-day period. Parents will complete a questionnaire about their child's environmental exposure to complement these assessments. During the study, infants' total sleep time per day will be measured using actimetry over 7 days. Researchers will also analyze pollutant concentrations in breast milk and on the bracelets, and monitor the child's temperature throughout the week. Parents will provide information via a questionnaire and maintain a sleep diary. Participation includes wearing monitoring devices and completing questionnaires, with all data collected to evaluate how environmental pollutants may influence infant sleep and development.
