Accidental hypothermia, especially severe cases with core body temperatures below 28C, can be life-threatening and often results from accidents like snow sports, near drowning, or urban cold exposure. Researchers aim to better understand the causes, treatment methods, and complications of accidental hypothermia through the International Hypothermia Registry. This observational study collects worldwide data to improve knowledge on patient outcomes and treatment approaches. The study gathers detailed information on accidental hypothermia cases, including prehospital and hospital treatments, rewarming techniques, and patient outcomes. Both prospective and retrospective cases are included without limits on the year of occurrence. The registry collects data through a comprehensive questionnaire covering demographics, clinical status, treatments, and outcomes. Participants provide information during and after treatment, with data recorded in a secure database over an average follow-up of one year. Researchers analyze these data to identify survival predictors, optimal rewarming methods, and ways to prevent complications after rewarming. The registry aims to develop evidence-based guidelines for diagnosing and treating accidental hypothermia to improve patient care worldwide.
