Community-Academic Partnerships to Address Disparities Within Rural and Urban Communities

Researchers are evaluating community-driven approaches to reduce viral transmission and address disparities in outbreak control outcomes. The study aims to develop effective interventions through collaboration between community members, public health agencies, and researchers. It focuses on promoting health behaviors such as disease testing and practicing the 3 Ws (wearing masks, washing hands, and watching distance) using innovative messages and strategies gathered via a crowdsourcing contest. The trial includes two main behavioral interventions: a disease prevention campaign package created through crowdsourcing and a pilot hybrid training program for contact tracing and case investigation called Rapid Response Teams. These interventions are designed to engage communities and improve outbreak response in both rural and urban areas. Participants will be tracked through enrollment logs and post-intervention questionnaires to assess participation numbers and acceptability of the interventions over several years. The study involves community engagement, surveys, and monitoring of health-promotive behaviors. The total study duration spans up to four years, allowing for long-term evaluation of these community-academic partnership strategies.
