Researchers are investigating how chronic liver diseases such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C, alcoholic liver disease, fatty liver, liver cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma relate to other systemic diseases. This study aims to understand the impact of liver disorders on the progression, treatments, and prognosis of other body system diseases by analyzing existing hospital data collected by the Buddhist Tzu Chi Medical Foundation. Understanding these interactions is important for improving overall health and reducing public health burdens worldwide. This study uses a retrospective approach by reviewing data from the Hospital Database of Buddhist Tzu Chi Medical Foundation. It examines the effects of various systemic diseases on liver disease progression and vice versa. The study also explores different treatment approaches, including western medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, surgical methods, and other therapies, to see how they influence long-term health outcomes for patients with liver or systemic diseases. Participants' past medical records will be analyzed to evaluate the incidence of new liver complications such as hepatocellular carcinoma and liver cirrhosis events over up to 10 years. Researchers will monitor disease progression and treatment outcomes using these data. The study includes adults aged 18 to 99 who have visited the gastroenterology clinics at Tzu Chi Hospitals. Participation involves data review only, with no active treatment or visits required.
