Researchers are studying the incidence, risk factors, and impact of post COVID-19 condition, also known as post-acute COVID-19 syndrome, in adult patients in Brazil who had symptomatic COVID-19 during the SARS-CoV-2 omicron wave after January 2022. The study aims to understand how this condition affects health-related quality of life and other patient-centered outcomes over a period of 3 to 24 months. This national retrospective cohort study involves internet-based recruitment of 1,694 adult Brazilian residents diagnosed with COVID-19 confirmed by PCR or antigen tests. The study observes multiple exposure factors including age, gender, education, comorbidities, vaccination status, severity of the acute COVID-19 episode, and treatments used during the acute phase. Participants will be evaluated remotely with follow-up lasting from 3 to 24 months to assess the presence of post COVID-19 condition according to the WHO definition and to measure quality of life using the EQ5D-3L tool. The study collects data on symptoms, risk factors, and overall burden of the condition to better understand its long-term effects.
