Researchers are investigating the relationship between postoperative delirium (POD) and certain proteins linked to the INS-PI3K-AKT signaling pathway, including TGF-b2, ADNP, MAP6, and PGC-1b1, in patients with diabetes. This study focuses on diabetic patients aged 65 and older undergoing limited thoracic and abdominal tumor surgery to better understand how these protein levels before surgery might predict the occurrence of delirium after the operation. This is a two-center, prospective, single-blind observational clinical study without any intervention. Participants will have 3 milliliters of blood collected before surgery, which will be processed and stored at -80b0C. The blood samples will be tested for levels of TGF-b2 and related proteins (ADNP, MAP6, PGC-1b1) using ELISA to analyze their correlation with POD. Participants will be monitored for delirium incidence within three days after surgery. Researchers will analyze the correlation between preoperative plasma protein levels and delirium occurrence. The study includes blood sample collection, cognitive function assessments, and safety monitoring. The study period spans from May 2024 to June 2026, during which data collection and analysis will occur to evaluate these protein markers as potential predictors for POD.
