Actively Recruiting

Researchers are conducting a detailed study to better understand the causes of fever acquired outside of hospitals, especially fevers not caused by malaria, in Guinea. Current knowledge about these fevers is limited, and there is a need to improve diagnosis and treatment to prevent delays in outbreak detection. This study involves multiple health centers and hospitals across four different regions in Guinea to observe patients with fever. The study follows a group of febrile patients who come to emergency and outpatient departments at selected health facilities. Participants must have a documented fever or recent history of fever and be available for follow-up. The study does not involve experimental treatments but monitors the patients over a period of 21 days to collect information about symptoms, lab results, antibiotic and other treatments, hospital admissions, and overall health outcomes. Participants will be assessed at the start of the study and again 21 days later. Researchers will track their symptoms, laboratory data, diagnoses made during the study, treatment use, any hospital admissions, and whether participants survive or have ongoing symptoms. This follow-up helps to understand the disease patterns and improve care for febrile illnesses in the region.
