Sleep is essential for overall health and well-being, influencing many body functions. Researchers are studying the effectiveness of magnesium supplements compared to melatonin congeners in young adults who have primary insomnia. Unlike most insomnia studies focusing on older adults or those with other health issues, this trial targets healthy young adults aged 18 to 40 to provide age-specific insights. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups for a 4-week treatment period. One group will take oral magnesium glycinate tablets at a dose of 500 mg nightly, while the other group will take oral melatonin tablets at 10 mg nightly. Both treatments are given as tablets and taken once each night. During the study, participants will be monitored for changes in their insomnia severity using the Insomnia Severity Index over the 4 weeks. Researchers will evaluate sleep difficulties and related daytime impairments. Participants will be assessed at regular intervals to track the effectiveness and impact of the supplements on their sleep patterns.

Post-herpetic neuralgia PHN is a painful complication that can occur after herpes zoster, caused by reactivation of the Varicella-Zoster virus. PHN leads to chronic nerve pain that may interfere with sleep and daily activities, especially affecting older adults and those with weakened immune systems. This research aims to compare two drugs, Pregabalin and Lacosamide, to see how they work in treating PHN, as there are few studies directly comparing these treatments for this condition. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups Group A will take Pregabalin capsules 150 mg once daily for 4 weeks, and Group B will take Lacosamide tablets 100 mg twice daily for the same duration. Both medications are given orally, and the study will monitor the effects of these treatments over the 4-week period. During the study, participants pain levels will be measured using the Visual Analog Scale at 4 weeks to assess treatment effectiveness. Researchers will monitor participants throughout the trial, which starts in April 2025 and ends in September 2025. The trial involves adults aged 18 to 50 diagnosed with PHN following herpes zoster. Safety and treatment outcomes will be observed during this time.
