Researchers are investigating whether sending SMS messages with advice on physical activity and nutrition can help people with prediabetes lose more weight. The study focuses on adults in La Réunion, where type 2 diabetes affects about 10% of the population, twice the rate in mainland France. This research aims to see if adding SMS support to an existing health and diet program can improve weight loss outcomes and help prevent the progression to diabetes. Participants are divided into two groups: one group will receive the standard FindRisc Péi-CPTS program, which includes sports sessions, dietary consultations, and therapeutic education, while the other group will receive the same program plus 72 SMS messages encouraging healthy habits. The program lasts from 3 to 9 months. The SMS messages are intended to provide ongoing encouragement and advice to support the lifestyle changes. Throughout the study, participants will have their weight and waist circumference measured and complete questionnaires about their lifestyle and confidence in managing their health. Follow-up visits are scheduled at 3, 6, and 9 months after starting the program to monitor progress. The main outcome the researchers are measuring is whether participants lose more than 3% of their body weight within 6 months. The study also aims to provide useful recommendations for healthcare providers and improve strategies for diabetes prevention.
