Researchers are evaluating the use of an AI-generated podcast to deliver health information about gum health and prevention. This pilot observational study aims to explore whether an AI-created podcast, made with Google NotebookLM and based on verified content from the American Academy of Periodontology, can be an engaging, clear, and useful educational tool for the general public. The study addresses limitations of traditional health podcasts, such as long duration and technical language, by offering a concise and standardized format. The study is divided into two phases. In the first phase, dental, public health, and communication experts review and provide feedback on a questionnaire adapted from the Questionnaire for Assessing Educational Podcasts (QAEP) to ensure clarity and scientific soundness. In the second phase, 30 general public participants listen to the 4-minute AI-generated podcast and then complete the validated questionnaire online to assess the podcast's accessibility, design, content quality, and educational value. Participants provide demographic information including age, gender, education, and English audio comprehension. Researchers measure the questionnaire’s content validity, internal consistency, and the public’s perception of the podcast using scores from February to April 2025. This study aims to determine the feasibility and effectiveness of AI-generated podcasts in improving public health literacy and guiding future digital health communication strategies.
