Researchers are exploring a new method to deliver health information using an AI-generated podcast focused on gum health and prevention. This pilot observational study aims to assess whether this podcast, created with Google NotebookLM and based on verified content from the American Academy of Periodontology, can serve as an engaging, clear, and useful educational tool for the general public. The study also focuses on developing and validating a questionnaire to measure public perceptions of the podcast's accessibility, design, clarity, and educational value. The study has two main phases. In the first phase, a group of about 10 experts in dentistry, public health, and communication evaluate and refine the adapted questionnaire by providing feedback through an online survey. In the second phase, approximately 30 members of the general public listen to the 4-minute AI-generated podcast and complete the validated questionnaire online to share their perceptions of the podcast's quality and usefulness. Participants provide demographic information including age, gender, education, and English audio comprehension. Researchers assess the content validity, reliability, and public perception scores of the questionnaire and podcast using statistical methods. The study measures outcomes from February to April 2025, with no intervention drugs or treatments involved. The results will help determine if AI-generated podcasts can be effective tools for public health education and guide future digital health communication strategies.
