This research aims to find better ways to detect and prevent gastric cancer, a serious and common cancer, especially in Spain where it is more frequent in men and often diagnosed late. The study is a large, multicenter, prospective cohort project involving symptomatic patients, those with premalignant lesions or early gastric cancers, as well as healthy participants, to explore clinical, endoscopic, and molecular methods that might help identify people at high risk. Participants are grouped into cohorts including those with gastric cancer, symptomatic patients undergoing diagnostic gastroscopy, patients with premalignant lesions treated by endoscopic resection, and control patients without gastric disease or family history. The study collects clinical data, biological samples, and life habit surveys over more than 18 months, using advanced endoscopy and multiomic techniques to study diagnosis and biomarkers. During the study, participants provide data and biological samples that are managed uniformly across centers, with information stored securely on an online platform. Researchers assess factors like the prevalence and progression of premalignant lesions, genetic predispositions, and lifestyle risks. The main outcome is developing new early diagnosis strategies for gastric cancer, with follow-up planned for up to 10 years to monitor these factors and validate new biomarkers.
