Researchers are assessing the feasibility and accuracy of performing an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) at home using continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) compared to the standard clinic-based OGTT. This randomized crossover study involves adults with prediabetes and aims to determine how well glucose readings from the home-based CGM test match those from the clinic-based venous plasma glucose test. The study also explores diagnostic agreement, the relationship with metabolic and sex hormones, and whether home-based testing is a practical diagnostic option for abnormal blood sugar levels. Participants will complete both testing methods: a self-administered OGTT at home with CGM and a clinic-based OGTT with venous plasma glucose measurements. They will be randomly assigned to start with either the home test or clinic test, followed by a crossover to the other method. CGM devices continuously track glucose changes during the tests, while venous blood samples are used as the reference standard. During the study, researchers will monitor glucose measurements from both testing methods and collect information through online instructions and questionnaires. They will evaluate how closely the CGM readings align with standard tests, the variability in glucose responses, and participant adherence to home testing. The study includes 75 adults with prediabetes and spans an age range of 18 to 70 years.
