Researchers are conducting a prospective population-based cohort study in Switzerland, focusing on cardiovascular risk factors. This study is modeled after the well-known Framingham study in the United States and aims to investigate health over a long term among residents of selected Swiss municipalities. The project began recruitment in Lostallo/Cama GR with 496 participants between 2014 and 2019 and plans to expand to Uznach SG in 2020. There is no intervention being tested in this research; it is observational in nature. Participants undergo a broad range of health measurements as detailed in the published study protocol. Follow-up assessments occur, including a five-year follow-up that started in 2019 for the initial municipality. The study seeks to collect and evaluate long-term data on cardiovascular risk factors without administering treatment. Participants will be involved in ongoing examinations, including health measurements and possibly blood samples for those 18 years and older. The primary outcome being assessed is mortality over a 10-year period. The study requires written informed consent and aims to monitor participants' health status and risk factors over many years, contributing valuable information about cardiovascular health in Swiss populations.
