Swiss Longitudinal Cohort Study in Three Swiss Municipalities Observing Cardiovascular Risk Factors Over 10 Years

What this Trial Is About

This research is a population-based observational study conducted in Switzerland, similar to the Framingham study in the United States. It aims to gather long-term health data from residents in three Swiss municipalities to understand cardiovascular risk factors and their impact on health outcomes. The study is sponsored by the Hypertension Excellence Centre Lucerne and focuses on evaluating mortality and various health functions over a 10-year period. Participants are recruited from specific Swiss municipalities, with initial recruitment completed in LostalloCama GR and follow-up ongoing. Recruitment began in a second municipality, Uznach SG, in 2020. The study involves no intervention or treatment but includes a broad range of health measurements as outlined in the study protocol. Participants will be involved in long-term monitoring with evaluations of mortality, cardiovascular events, heart function, cognitive function, kidney function, autonomy, and nursing home admission over 10 years. The study requires written informed consent, and participants may undergo voluntary blood sampling if they are 18 years or older. The overall participation duration and assessments are designed to track health changes over time.
