Researchers are evaluating how GLP-1 and GIP agonist medications affect bowel preparation quality in adults scheduled for colonoscopies. This Phase 4 randomized controlled trial aims to determine whether these medications increase the rate of inadequate bowel preparation and if holding or continuing a single dose before the procedure impacts preparation quality or complications such as gastric aspiration. Participants will either continue their prescribed GLP-1 or GIP agonist therapy as usual or hold the medication before their colonoscopy. The study focuses on outpatient screening, surveillance, or diagnostic colonoscopy patients who have been on a stable dose of these medications for at least one month. The bowel preparation regimen follows the USMSTF recommendations, including a split-dose polyethylene glycol solution with bisacodyl and specific dietary instructions. During the study, researchers will monitor bowel preparation quality during surgery and assess related complications. Participants will undergo the recommended bowel cleansing regimen and be observed for outcomes like inadequate preparation rates. The total participation duration depends on the colonoscopy schedule and preparation process. Safety and efficacy data will be collected to better understand medication effects on bowel preparation.
