Actively Recruiting
This research aims to evaluate a new training platform called the Thrive Digital Peer Platform (TDPP) designed to improve Peer Recovery Support Service providers' skills and adherence. The study compares the effects of the fully asynchronous TDPP, the TDPP combined with live Zoom sessions, and the standard training currently offered. The goal is to develop an evidence-based training tool to increase access to recovery support services nationwide and help address the shortage of treatment providers for substance and alcohol use disorders. Participants are divided into three groups: one receives the usual Peer Recovery Supporter training, another uses the fully asynchronous TDPP with 11 interactive modules, and the third group uses the TDPP plus three live facilitator-led Zoom sessions for added discussion and skill practice. The modules follow a Connect 192 Grow 192 Apply learning framework featuring peer stories and exercises to support learning. Throughout the study, participants' skills and adherence to the training are assessed within two weeks after completing the program. The study collects data on knowledge gain, usability, and implementation fidelity. Follow-up includes baseline assessments and computer and telephone check-ins over approximately ten months. The research aims to demonstrate the platform's acceptability, feasibility, and potential to improve training outcomes compared to traditional methods.
