What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating the feasibility of a 1-month app-based meditation program for youth aged 13 to 20 involved in juvenile legal systems across Oregon and New York. The main focus is to see if participants will stick with using the meditation app. Additional goals include assessing recruitment, randomization, retention, and survey completion rates to understand overall feasibility. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups one using the Bodhi AIM meditation app designed to teach daily meditation through brief guided audio and video files, and the other using the HIB health promotion app with educational content on topics like substance use. Both apps offer a 30-day program with accessible audio files and are matched in time and structure. The intervention lasts for one month, with follow-up assessments at 1 and 6 months, and all activities are conducted remotely. Those who join will complete baseline surveys before randomization, then use their assigned app for one month. Follow-up surveys will be collected at 1 and 6 months to evaluate adherence and acceptability measures, as well as retention and completion of health questionnaires. Researchers will monitor how well participants engage with the app and complete study activities over the full study period ending in June 2028.
