- Elective mitral or aortic valve replacement surgery
- Hemodynamically stable to qualify for a structured rehabilitation program
- Able to understand and complete study measurements
- Provide informed written consent
You will not qualify if you...
- History of ischemic heart disease before surgery
- Severe musculoskeletal system disorders
- Persistent or paroxysmal atrial fibrillation
- Severe heart failure
- Uncontrolled arrhythmias
- Comorbidities complicating physical activity or contraindications to phase one cardiac rehabilitation
- Underwent emergency surgical intervention
