What this Trial Is About

This research aims to identify factors that predict sports injuries among female athletes involved in high-impact sports like rugby and basketball in Saudi Arabia. It focuses on both physiological factors such as muscle strength, anaerobic power, and oxygen consumption, and psychological factors including self-efficacy and resilience. Understanding these factors is important for developing injury prevention strategies, reducing long-term health problems, and lowering healthcare costs. The study involves 30 female athletes aged 18 to 35 years who actively participate in rugby and basketball. Data collection includes physiological tests like maximal oxygen consumption, anaerobic power testing using the Wingate test, and isokinetic muscle strength assessments. Psychological evaluations are done using validated questionnaires such as the General Self-Efficacy Scale and the Brief Resilience Scale. Injury risk is assessed through the Lower Extremity Functional Test, which measures agility and functional performance. Participants will undergo these assessments at the lifestyle research center, providing baseline measurements for oxygen consumption, muscle strength, anaerobic power, self-efficacy, and resilience. The study monitors performance in a series of agility drills and a single-leg hop to categorize injury risk. Results aim to offer targeted injury prevention strategies to support the growth of women's sports in Saudi Arabia and contribute to public health goals under Vision 2030.
