Study of Body Measurements, Physical Function, and Lifestyle Factors Linked to Testosterone Levels in Men Aged 35 to 59 in Uzbekistan

Reduced testosterone levels in middle-aged men have been linked to various health issues including metabolic syndrome, obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, decreased physical performance, and lower quality of life. This research aims to explore factors related to body measurements, physical function, and lifestyle that affect serum total testosterone levels in men aged 35 to 59 years living in the Andijan region of Uzbekistan. The study is a population-based, cross-sectional observational investigation involving about 600 men. Participants will undergo detailed evaluations including body measurements like height, weight, body mass index, waist and hip circumference, and ratios such as waist-to-hip and waist-to-height. Functional performance will be tested using hand-grip strength, the five-times chair-stand test, and the 4-meter walk test. Participants will also complete validated questionnaires covering physical activity, sleep quality, diet, smoking, alcohol use, urinary symptoms, signs of testosterone deficiency, and muscle function. Blood samples will be collected in the morning after fasting to measure serum total testosterone levels using standard lab procedures. During the study, researchers will gather comprehensive data through clinical assessments, questionnaires, and laboratory testing to analyze relationships between testosterone levels and various factors. Statistical methods will help identify predictors of low testosterone and support development of a model to detect men at risk of testosterone deficiency early. The studys findings aim to enhance understanding of these associations and improve preventive healthcare strategies for middle-aged men. Participation involves assessments at baseline without any therapeutic intervention.
