Randomized Trial Comparing Ventralex Patch and ProGrip Mesh for Surgery of Midline Incisional Hernias

Incisional hernias in the middle of the abdomen are common and often require surgery. This trial compares two types of mesh used in hernia repair the Ventralex patch placed in a sublay position and the Progrip mesh placed in an onlay position. The study aims to evaluate which mesh option might be better for treating midline incisional hernias, considering factors like recurrence and complications after surgery. Participants will undergo surgery using either the Ventralex patch or the Progrip mesh. The Ventralex patch is placed beneath the peritoneum sublay, while the Progrip mesh is positioned on top of the abdominal wall onlay. These two approaches represent different surgical techniques to repair the hernia and are being compared in this randomized controlled trial. During the study, researchers will monitor participants for recurrence of the hernia one year after surgery. They will also track complications and sick leave within 30 days, as well as the presence of seromas and persistent pain one year post-surgery. The trial involves regular follow-up visits to evaluate surgical outcomes and recovery progress over time.
