What this Trial Is About
Researchers are studying a brief behavioral parent training program delivered through telehealth to understand why some parents and children do not improve after the intervention. The study focuses on behavioral problems, irritable mood, parenting, and stress in young children aged 3 to 5 years. The goal is to find ways to enhance the program for those who do not benefit initially. The intervention consists of six group-based sessions that teach parenting strategies, provide support, and involve active practice of these strategies. Parents participate in this program online via telehealth, and this is the only treatment provided during the study. The sessions aim to help parents manage their child's behavior and reduce parenting stress. Participants will complete questionnaires and behavioral assessments before treatment, mid-treatment (up to 4 weeks after starting), and post-treatment (up to 12 weeks after starting). These assessments include the Parenting Scale, Caregiver Strain Questionnaire, Eyberg Child Behavior Inventory, and observational coding systems for parent-child interactions. The study monitors changes in parenting behavior, child behavior, and caregiver stress over time. Participation lasts through the treatment and follow-up assessments.
