What this Trial Is About
Researchers are developing a specialized MRI scan of the pancreas to better detect pancreatic cancer in people at high risk for this disease. This pilot study focuses on improving screening methods for those enrolled in the Memorial Sloan Kettering Pancreatic Tumor Registry who are at increased risk due to family history or genetic factors. Participants will undergo a single MRI scan of the abdomen without contrast, along with an endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) scheduled the same day or within two weeks before the MRI. The study compares the image quality of this new high-resolution MRI pancreas scan to conventional MRCP scans over a period of up to three years. During the study, participants will have completed prior MRCP scans without concerning pancreatic findings and will be scheduled for EUS as part of their surveillance. Researchers will monitor image quality and pancreatic screening results, with follow-up contact and assessments conducted to evaluate the new MRI's effectiveness in detecting pancreatic cancer among high-risk individuals.
