Researchers are studying various childhood-onset behavioral, psychiatric, and developmental disorders, including autism, disorders of social cognition, neurodevelopmental conditions, and unique pediatric behavioral syndromes with genetic links or distinct family histories. The study aims to better understand the onset, course, and treatment of these conditions across all ages, including affected individuals and their biological relatives. This natural history protocol focuses on gaining knowledge to inform future research questions and treatment approaches. Participants include children, adolescents, adults, and their biological relatives such as parents, siblings, and extended family members. The study involves detailed medical, sleep, and neurodevelopmental assessments to explore biological factors related to neuropsychiatric symptoms. Standard therapeutic interventions may be used and evaluated for their effects. Participants may be invited back for periodic follow-up visits to assess the natural and treated progression of their conditions over time. Throughout the study, participants undergo clinical assessments including medical history, physical exams, and evaluations of thinking, judgment, and behavior. These assessments help researchers observe symptom patterns and responses to treatments. There are no formal outcome measures, but ongoing clinical evaluations are used to understand symptom correlations and therapy effects. The study involves individuals from 30 days to 99 years old and may include up to 1,000 participants, with long-term follow-up possible to better understand illness progression.
