What this Trial Is About

This research aims to compare two different approaches for pulsed radiofrequency PRF treatment targeting the suprascapular nerve in patients with chronic shoulder pain caused by rotator cuff tendinopathy. The study focuses on assessing how these approaches affect pain levels, shoulder function, and muscle strength. It is a randomized, prospective trial designed to provide evidence on the best anatomical method for PRF treatment in this patient group. Participants will receive ultrasound-guided PRF treatment of the suprascapular nerve using either the suprascapular notch approach or the midpoint approach between the suprascapular notch and spinoglenoid notch. The procedure involves positioning a radiofrequency needle near the nerve, confirming placement by sensory and motor stimulation, and applying pulsed radiofrequency at 42C for three cycles of 120 seconds. Patients are randomly assigned to one of these two intervention groups. During the study, participants will undergo evaluations at baseline, 24 hours, 1 month, and 3 months after treatment. Assessments include pain measurement with the Numeric Rating Scale, functional status with the Shoulder Pain and Disability Index, and quality of life via the Short Form-36. Shoulder range of motion will be measured, muscle thickness of specific shoulder muscles will be evaluated by ultrasound, and muscle strength will be tested using an isokinetic dynamometer. These measures will help determine the treatment effects and safety over a 3-month period.
