Comparing Modified Twin-Block Appliance with Clear Plates to Traditional Twin-Block Appliance for Treating Skeletal Class II Malocclusion in Children Aged 10 to 13

What this Trial Is About

This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of clear plates in treating patients with skeletal class II malocclusion characterized by a retracted lower jaw. The study compares the skeletal, dental, and soft tissue changes achieved by a Modified Twin-Block Appliance with Clear Plates against the Traditional Twin-Block Appliance. Both treatments focus on correcting this specific jaw misalignment in children aged 10.5 to 13 years with mixed dentition. Participants are randomly assigned to one of two groups one will use the Modified Twin-Block Appliance with Clear Plates, and the other will use the Traditional Twin-Block Appliance. Both devices are applied to the upper and lower dental arches and worn for 17 hours daily. The treatment period is expected to last 6 to 9 months, aiming to achieve a normal overjet and Class I canine relationships. During the study, changes in several measures will be monitored, including the SNA and SNB angles, mandibular length, overjet, and the vertical position of incisors. These measurements will be taken before treatment and once the desired dental relationships are achieved. The study ensures participants have no prior orthodontic treatment and monitors their dental and skeletal development closely to assess treatment outcomes.
