Researchers at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine and Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences are conducting studies to better understand human diseases and develop new ways to diagnose, measure, or treat these diseases. Their research focuses on areas such as cancer, cardiovascular health, immunity, neuroscience, and microbiology. This study aims to collect and store donated human tissue to support these biomedical and translational research efforts. The study involves creating a human tissue repository where tissue samples collected during surgeries or medical procedures are gathered under a single protocol. This streamlines the process for participants and researchers, allowing tissue to be used across multiple research projects. Participants provide consent once and complete an online form sharing basic demographic information, surgery details, medical history, and more. Participants will be involved by providing tissue during their scheduled surgery or procedure and completing an online case report form. Researchers will track the receipt of donated tissue over 50 years as the primary outcome. The study emphasizes efficient tissue collection to improve research quality while minimizing participant burden.
