Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Both genders aged from 20 to 35 years
- Clinically diagnosed with physiologic gingival melanin pigmentation in the maxillary and mandibular keratinized gingiva
- Complaints of compromised esthetics
- Systemically free of any disease as verified by medical history or health questionnaire
You will not qualify if you...
- Diagnosis of periodontitis or poor oral hygiene with high plaque and gingival indices
- Pregnant or lactating females
- Presence of clinical lesions in the gingiva area such as pigmented lesions from intestinal polyposis syndrome, McCune-Albright syndrome, or fibro-osseous lesions like florid osseous dysplasia
- Previous treatment for gingival hyperpigmentation
- History of allergy to vitamin C
- Any systemic disease or medications causing gingival hyperpigmentation (e.g., Addison disease)
- Current or former smokers
