What this Trial Is About

Researchers are studying the effects of Je4gerbombs, a popular mix of Je4germeister liquor and energy drinks, compared to drinking alcohol alone during binge-drinking episodes. Binge drinking involves consuming a large amount of alcohol quickly to become intoxicated, which is a serious health concern among young people in Spain. This trial aims to assess how Je4gerbombs influence alcohol effects, stimulation, coordination, reaction time, vision, stress hormone responses, and hangover symptoms. Participants receive drinks in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled setup with three groups: Je4germeister plus energy drink, Je4germeister plus a placebo energy drink, and placebo alcohol plus placebo energy drink. The total drink volume is split into five doses given every 10 minutes over 45 minutes to simulate binge drinking. Dosages differ for men and women based on body weight and alcohol content. During the study, participants undergo various tests and assessments including reaction time, breath alcohol and saliva caffeine levels, visual acuity, coordination tasks, feelings of drunkenness and drowsiness, heart rate, blood pressure, hormone levels, and hangover symptoms over several hours after drinking. Safety is monitored through physical exams, ECG, and blood and urine tests. The study lasts several hours for each participant, measuring both immediate and lasting effects of the drinks.
