What this Trial Is About
This clinical trial aims to determine if a single-session depression intervention is feasible and acceptable for youth aged 12 to 17 years with type 1 diabetes T1D. Researchers want to see if this brief intervention can improve mood and health outcomes compared to an educational control. The study focuses on how well the intervention can be recruited, implemented, and received by patients, and its initial effectiveness in reducing depressive symptoms. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the T1D-specific depression single-session intervention or educational materials about T1D. The intervention includes psychoeducation about depression, a values assessment to identify meaningful life areas, and development of a personalized activity action plan. Participants will complete this intervention once, with follow-up visits at 3 and 6 months. During the study, participants will complete questionnaires and provide blood samples to measure hemoglobin A1c HbA1c at baseline, 3 months, and 6 months. They will also fill out daily mood questionnaires for two weeks before and after the intervention. The research team will assess feasibility, acceptability, mood changes, and diabetes-related outcomes over the course of the study, which lasts until early 2029.
